Preschool Grant
The Red Oak Community School District and the Stanton Community School District are pleased to announce that each district has received notification from the State of Iowa Department of Education of a grant to fund the Statewide Four Year Old Voluntary Preschool Program. Through the collaboration of Red Oak Community School Right Start program, Early Childhood Special Education program, West Central Community Action Head Start Preschool, Kaleidoscope Preschool, Lil’ Tigers Preschool, Boost 4 Families, and Good Shepherd Preschool in Stanton, preschool services to all 3 & 4 year old children will be provided throughout the communities.
Right Start Preschool and the Head Start Preschool will be located at the Webster Building offering preschool services four days a week. Kaleidoscope Preschool will continue to be located at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church four days a week. The Red Oak Early Childhood Special Education program will be located at Washington Intermediate School four days a week. The consortium is pleased to announce that Ms. Tammy McFarland of Lil’ Tigers Preschool will operate the preschool program for all 3-year olds in the Red Oak community.
Families that have already registered at one of the aforementioned programs, do not need to do any further registration at this time. Program directors will contact parents with details prior to the start of the 2009-2010 school year. Families that have not yet registered their child for a preschool, should visit the Central Office at the Webster Building , 904 Broad Street to complete a registration form. Bring with you a form of income verification (such as a pay stub, or last year’s tax return). The secretary will make a copy of this to put with your registration. Families that fall within the income guidelines as provided by the State of Iowa could have free tuition to attend preschool. Families that exceed the income eligibility guidelines will have a nominal tuition fee. Your child must be 4 years of age on or before September 15th to be accepted in the 4 year old program.
Families with eligible 3-year old children should also complete the registration form if interested in receiving preschool services. As with the four-year –old program, a form of income verification is needed to determine if tuition grants can be awarded. Please remember, to be eligible your child must be 3 by September 15th. The Central Office at the Webster Building is open 7:30-4:00 daily. All registration forms should be submitted no later than July 17th. After all applications are processed, families will be notified with additional information to prepare your child for the school year. Should you have any questions, please call 623-6600.
