A Day in the Life of a WIS Student
A Day in the Life of a WIS Student
Washington students start their day by arriving to school no earlier than 7:30 AM. At that time they may enter the gymnasium for breakfast or waiting for the 8:00 time to go outside for a morning recess.
The students come in at 8:15 and then are in classrooms ready to begin their academic day at 8:25. Selected students come to the office to say the Pledge of Allegiance and lunch menu.
All students then have a 90 minute literacy block, recess, and another 90 minutes of Math instruction.
Lunch is at 11:30 for 5th grade and 11:50 for 4th grade with recess following lunch.
The afternoon is filled with science and social studies instruction and specials, which includes P.E., Music, Art, and Guidance.
All students have a planner provided by the district to keep track of homework, reminders to go home, communication between home and school, and special events. Students have time to fill these out at the end of the day.
