Woods Course Requirements


The course covers the use and safety of wood working tools, both hand and powered,  and commonly used wood working joints.  Several projects that involve skills learned during the course are also required.


1. Measurement skills and exercises
2. Portable Hand Tools – Written assignments, Demonstration and Safety Materials, Safety Tests, Skills Sheets.
3. Stationary Power Tools – Written assignments, Demonstration and Safety Materials, Safety Tests, Skills Sheets.
4. Portable Power Tools – Written assignments, Demonstration and Safety Materials, Safety Tests, Skills Sheets.
5. Wood Working Joints – The construction of various types of wood joints used in the wood working industry as assigned by the instructor.
6. Wood Projects – 4 required projects (Table Top Bookshelf, Cutting Board, Pair of Matching Candle Stick Holders, and a Splined and Raised Panel Box).
7. Instructor reserves the right to issue additional assignments or modify the requirements listed above.
