School Begins on Wednesday August 13

The first day of school for Red Oak Community School District will be Wednesday, August 13, with a 2 hour early dismissal. Classes for Webster Early Childhood Center will begin on August 21. School days will be as follows:  High School:  8:05 a.m. to 3:21 p.m.; Middle School:  8:08 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.; Washington Intermediate:  8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.; and Inman Primary:  8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

The District will be joined by 7 new certified staff members including:

Erica Bauserman whose hometown is Osage, Iowa. She will teach vocal music at Red Oak Middle School and grade five vocal music at Washington Intermediate. She is a recent graduate of Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.

Mike Berthusen of Ankeny, Iowa returns to teaching fulltime after a stint in private business working in the technology field. His previous teaching background included all levels of mathematics. He will teach math at Red Oak High School and computer applications at Red Oak Middle School.

Nick Crouse, a 2013 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University returns to his hometown of Red Oak to teach physical education and assist in several extracurricular activities.

Heather Gothberg joins the guidance department at Red Oak Middle School. With a strong background in sociology she completed a master’s degree in school counseling through Capella University.

Lisa Gray, who resides in Shenandoah, will join the faculty at Inman Primary School serving students with special learning needs. She is a graduate of Buena Vista University and recently completed a student teaching experience in Glenwood Iowa.

Mike Mott, a veteran guidance counselor from St. Albert Schools in Council Bluffs, joins the guidance department with planned service at Red Oak Middle School and Inman Primary School. Mike is a graduate of University of Northern Iowa and holds a master’s degree from Creighton University.

Emily Stout joins the Red Oak High School staff as a special education instructor. Her prior experience was teaching at the Clarinda Academy. Her undergraduate degree is in mathematics and was earned at Iowa State University.

All of us in the Red Oak Community School District are ready to move forward while building on the successes of the past at the same time learning from challenges that experience has brought us.
