Large Group Speech District Results

Red Oak Large Group Speech Team traveled to Audubon to compete in the Large Group District Speech competition.

>

> We took 26 students who competed in 11 events. Of those 11 events, 8 are headed to the State contest, which will be held at West Des Moines Valley on February 7.  They will also be performing for the public on February 5 starting at 6:00 in the High School Media Center.

>

> Those qualifying for State with a "I" rating are:

> 1. Seniors Donnie Torbett, Grace Blomstedt, Jared Sherman and Madison Gilbert in Group Improv 2. Seniors Donnie Torbett and Jared Sherman in Musical Theatre for their performance of "All For the Best" from Godspell 3. Senior Johanna Wessel and Junior Leatha Bennett in Musical Theatre for their performance of "Some Things Are Meant to Be" from Little Women 4. Juniors Kaylin Carlson and Cassie Vrabel in Readers Theatre with "The Duet Show"

> 5. Seniors Teanna Pafford and Kristen Ayres-Miller and Sophomore Christian Horn in Ensemble Acting with "They Doesn't Speak Good English"

> 6. Junior Ethan Hewett and Sophomores Ben Koppa, Sean Griffen and Tristan Piper in Group Improv 7. Freshmen Abigail Sherman, Lainie Edie and Elsa Wemhoff in Musical Theatre for their performance of "There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This" from Sweet Charity 8. Freshmen Abigail Sherman, Lainie Edie and Elsa Wemhoff in Ensemble Acting with "Elevator Games"

> Receiving a "II" rating were:

> 1. Senior Kristen Ayres-Miller and Sophomores Christian Horn, Emily Rose and Lexie Wingfield in Group Improv 2. Juniors Hannah Shalters, Bree Berkey, Brenna Craig, Kaylin Carlson and Cassie Vrabel and Sophomore Emily Rose in Choral Reading with "Bedtime Stories"

> 3. Freshmen Kyla Gass, Mariah Craig and Jacob Pendergraft in Group Improv

> Ms. Reeve and I are so proud of these kids. They participate in speech while also in bowling, basketball, band, musical, working and keeping up with their classwork. They did a fantastic job representing Red Oak today and I could not be prouder to be their coach!
