ROCS Welcomes New Staff Members

Twelve staff members new to the Red Oak Community School District will begin the 2016-2017 school year on August 24th.  Several returning staff members have new positions also. 

New to the District are:

Lisa Artherholt, HS Art Teacher, comes back home from the CAM school district.  Lisa attended Midland Lutheran College and Buena Vista University.

Brandi Blackman, parttime Elementary Title One Teacher,is another Red Oak Community Schools alum.  Brandi has taught at Glenwood and most recently was a substitute teacher.

Cole Darrow, Elementary Phys Ed Teacher, comes to Red Oak from Glenwood by way of Buena Vista University.  Cole most recently coached Middle School and worked with Storm Lake Elementary students in an after school program.

Amanda Hall, Washington Intermediate Secretary, comes to Red Oak from Ames where she attended Iowa State University and worked in a medical office.

Anna Harmsen, Kindergarten Teacher, attended Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont School District and Iowa State University.  Anna has been substitute teaching before being hired here.

Adam Hastings, Middle School Math Instructor, comes to Red Oak from Niles, MI., where he taught middle school math and coached.  Adam graduated from Ferris State University.

Mick Long will be teaching High School Mathematics and is the head coach for the boys' basketball team.  Mick most recently taught math and coached at Charter Oak-Ute.

Alex Nelson, Fifth Grade Teacher, graduated from Central College in Pella.  Alex student taught in Chicago and mentored students at Pella Christian Elementary.

Allison Pfaltzgraff will be teaching Sixth Grade Language Arts at the Middle School.  Allison attended Valley High School in Des Moines, University of Northern Iowa, ande University of Northwestern in St. Paul.

Daniel Pfatlzgraff will join his wife at the Middle School, teaching Eighth Grade Language Arts.  Daniel is an University of Northern Iowa alum and has taught English at Waukee and VanMeter.

Jacque Stephens, High School Language Arts Teacher, comes to the District after the closing of the Nishnabota School District.  Jacque attended both Buena Vista and Iowa State University.

Jacki Viner,an Iowa State University alum, will teach fifth grade at Washington Intermediate School.  Jacki taught fifth/sixth grade at East Mills and sixth grade at Glenwood before joining the Red Oak Community School District.

Serveral staff members will begin new adventures when school begins.  Dan DeGroot moves from 4-12 ELO to the Middle School Social Studies. Trish Fellers will be teaching K-12 ELO. John Gambs adds Middle School Social Studies classes with his High School Studies schedule. Terra Marsden will be teaching fifth through eighth grade music.  After graduating from William Penn Unversity, Brian Orr will move from a para-professional to K-5 Student Support Services. Tracy will leave the classroom setting and take over as 6-12 Student Support Services.
