"Anything Goes" at ROHS This weekend!

ROHS Spring Musical

Red Oak High School presents their Spring Musical, this weekend, “Anything Goes”

Anything Goes is set aboard the ocean liner S. S. American, where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney is en route from New York to England. Her pal Billy Crocker has stowed away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt, but the problem is Hope is engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner are Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin and his sidekick-in-crime Erma. With the help of some elaborate disguises, singing and dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart.

The performances are Friday, February 24 at 7:00 PM, Saturday, February 25 at 7:00 PM, and Sunday, February 26 at 2:00 PM.

We have 45 students who are involved in this production of “Anything Goes”.  The students auditioned back in December and have been rehearsing since the beginning of January.

I am so excited for the students to get to perform this wonderful show.  They have done a wonderful job of defining their characters, learning lines, choreography, and songs.  Each one of the students involved in this production really bring a special element to the show that when combined with the efforts and talents of the entire cast and crew the result will be exhilarating.  Red Oak High School has produced a different version of “Anything Goes” a few times over the years but this will be the first time that we have produced this version originally revised for the 1987 Broadway production and then again in 2011 on Broadway.

The score, by composer Cole Porter, is full of wonderful and familiar tunes; “Friendship”, “All Through the Night”, “It’s Delovely”, “Anything Goes” and so many more.

The musical will be presented Friday, February 24 at 7:00 PM, Saturday February 25 at 7:00 PM, and Sunday, February 26 at 2:00 PM all in the Red Oak High School Auditorium.

Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $6.00 for Students.  Tickets may be purchased in the Red Oak High School Office or by calling 712-623-6610.
