Schools Close for State Basketball on March 3

All schools will be closed on Tuesday, March 3, in order for students and staff to attend first round action in Des Moines. The Red Oak girls’ basketball team will open quarterfinal play at 1:30 pm with Nevada. Parents and guardians are urged to plan ahead for this special out of school day. Red Oak High School will provide the opportunity for students in grades six to twelve to ride a pep bus for the price of admission - $10. All ticket prices are $10 for the state tournament. Advance ticket sales are available at Red Oak High School beginning Thursday, February 26. Second round action for the Girls 3A State Tournament will be Thursday, March 5, at 3:15 pm. All games take place at the Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines. For those who cannot attend the game in person, Radio KCSI/KOAK will broadcast the Red Oak Tiger Girls contest. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has teamed up with ActionCam to live stream the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. The games will be free to view directly from the IGHSAU website (http://ighsau.org ) using the High School Cube streaming platform.
