Board of Directors Recognition Week
Volunteer school board members serve thousands of hours each year working to ensure every Iowa student receives a solid education. School Board Recognition Week, May 9-15, 2010, is an opportunity to say thanks to the more than 2,000 men and women who govern Iowa's public education system. This year's theme, "Leading Students to a Brighter Future," recognizes that locally elected school board members are providing leadership, through responsibilities ranging from strong financial stewardship to ensuring high-quality curriculum, to ensure that all students have a bright, vibrant future ahead of them.
Special recognition goes to President Charla Schmid, 11 years of service; Vice-President Lee Fellers, 3 years of service; Elizabeth Dilley, 4 years of service; Warren Hayes, 1 year of service; and Paul Griffen, 1 year of service.
In addition to the two required board meetings each month, the Red Oak unpaid board members volunteer countless hours to serve on committees like: Professional Negotiations, School Calendar Committee, Facilities and Operations, Policy Development, and statewide advisory committee as appointed. Thank you, Directors of the Red Oak Community School District!
