Board of Directors Elections
On September 13, voters in the Red Oak Community School District will determine two individuals to help govern the learning community. Current Board President Lee Fellers will be on the ballot for a new four year term. Long-time District Patron Bill Drey will seek his first term as a board member. It, too, will be a four year term. The polls will open at noon on September 13 and close at 8 p.m. According to Montgomery County Auditor Ted Schoonover, the only polling place will be the Gold Fair Building in Red Oak.
President Lee Fellers began his current service in 2007 as an appointee then was elected to a regular term. Prior to service as Board President, Mr. Fellers served in the role of Board Vice-President. In addition to the hours served in leadership, Mr. Fellers has worked on the Interest Based Bargaining Committee and has served on the subcommittee for Facilities and Operations. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Peru State College and an MBA from Baker University. Currently Mr. Fellers is a plant controller at Johnson Controls in Red Oak. Married to Patricia (Trish) for 23 years, a 2nd Grade Teacher at Inman Primary, the Fellers have two daughters. Lauren is a sophomore at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY studying Chemical Engineering and Ellen is a sophomore at Red Oak High involved in cross-country, band, choir, speech, drama, and golf.
Bill Drey is no stranger to the community of Red Oak and certainly no stranger to Red Oak Schools. Having just retired from Iowa State University as an Extension Education Director, Mr. Drey can also show experience as a Red Oak educator as he spent 21 years as an agriculture educator. Mr. Drey has served his community as Chairman of the Red Oak Park and Tree Board and a collaborator with the Montgomery County Interagency Coalition. Mr. Drey’s formal education found his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and his MS degree in professional agriculture from ISU. Married to Deb (an accounting/payroll/technology staffer at Red Oak’s Webster Office) for 27 years, the Dreys have two children. Son, Joe, is a senior at Iowa State majoring in Accounting and Marketing. Daughter, Jessica, is a graduate of Iowa State University and works in Des Moines.
