"Thoroughly Modern Millie" at Red Oak High School
Greetings from the very exciting happenings of the Red Oak Vocal Music Department. This is such a fun and busy time of year because we are in the middle of our Musical Theater season here at ROHS. On February 27-March 2, we will be doing our annual musical theater production, this year's show is Thoroughly Modern Millie. We did auditions for the show in December, before we left for break, and then we began rehearsal on January 7. Once again, we have a wonderful and talented group of students who are doing an outstanding job with this show. A cast of 47 students has been rehearsing multiple times a week learning songs, scenes, lines, choreography, and getting into character. Many of the students will be in rehearsal 3 times a week for approximately 3 hours at a time. Now that is commitment! They also juggle their schedules between basketball, wrestling, speech, cheerleading, Pep Band, Jazz Band, and bowling. These are busy and involved students who are taking advantage of the wonderful opportunities that are available to them at ROHS. This will be the first time Red Oak High School has done this particular musical. It is a comedy that takes place in Manhattan during the Roaring Twenties (1922). It is full of wonderful tunes and colorful characters. Thoroughly Modern MillieÂÂÂÂÂ was a feature film in 1967 starring Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore, and was transformed into a Broadway musical in 2002 winning the Tony Award for Best Musical of the Year. Come out and see these wonderful students in their wonderful production of Thoroughly Modern MillieÂÂÂÂÂ, February 27-March 2, in the Red Oak High School Auditorium.
