High School Teacher Anne Harter

Anne Margaret Harter, age 49, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at her residence. Anne was born August 14, 1965 in Ames, Iowa the daughter of Gary and Carolyn (Cole) Harter. She was raised in Villisca, Iowa where she attended school. She furthered her education at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. She started her teaching career at NWMSU. She was united in marriage to Shawn Cooper and three children were born to this union: George, Gilman, and Gus. Anne was a teacher at Villisca Schools and later ran the Villisca Review Newspaper. She returned to teaching at Clarinda Academy, Shenandoah Schools and currently Red Oak Community Schools. She attended church at First Congregational United Church of Christ. Anne enjoyed exercising, including Jazzercise and bike riding. She enjoyed traveling, traveling abroad, was an avid reader, and was known as "Mom" to many children.

A celebration of life service will be held 10 AM Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Red Oak Community High School Gymnasium. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-8 PM Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warriors or the Wabash Trace.
