ROHS Drama Presents a Night of Lies and Distractions

This year’s Fall Play will look a little different, but maybe not in the way you’d expect.  Our “normal” has shifted with the pandemic, but the show goes on!  This year we will be presenting two different plays - both on the same night, separated by the intermission.  The total running time should be around 2 ⅕ hours, which is very similar to what it’s been in the past.  The plays were chosen with the new normal in mind.  There’s much more social distancing on stage than ever before, but the kids are just as hilarious as they have always been.  The one major thing that hasn’t changed is just how talented these kids are!

The ROHS Drama kids have been working extremely hard and would love to see you at their performances!  Seriously, these kids have owned their characters and really bring them to life.  The performance will begin with the full length “The Internet is Distract-OH LOOK A KITTEN!” and conclude with the one-act “An Absolutely True Story (As Told By a Bunch of Lying Liars)” - both by Ian McWethy. There will be an intermission between the two shows and curtain call will be at the end of the one-act.

Tickets are $6 and can be purchased in the HS office ahead of time (preferred so we can have an idea how many people) or the night of (we would prefer exact change).

Friday, November 13 - 7:00 pm

Saturday, November 14 - 7:00 pm

Sunday, November 15 - 2:00 pm

Masks are required (we will have disposable ones available for those who need one), and social distancing is encouraged.  There will be sections marked to help with social distancing.  Please follow all signs.

Our full-length play The Internet is Distract - OH LOOK A KITTEN! is about Micah (played by Araina Brummett), a teenage girl who is trying to finish her paper on The Great Gatsby the morning it’s due. All she needs is one fact. Just one! It shouldn’t take that long, right? With the help of her best friend, Taylor (Mya Southwell), it may take longer than you think! There are so many things online to distract you! Will she ever finish her paper? Come to the play to find out - and see the hilarious distractions she faces along the way.  Snapchat (Gannon Sallach), Instagram (Hannah Smith), Facebook (Tessa Rolenc), Twitter (Gannon Sallach), and so many others grace the stage and will be sure to entertain you!

In the one-act An Absolutely True Story (As Told By a Bunch of Lying Liars), a family heirloom vase is broken by .... well, that’s the question, isn’t it? Mom (Mya Southwell) and Dad (Gannon Sallach) question their children (Grayson Hewett and Araina Brummett), their children’s friends (Rhenn Rolenc and Ethan Horn) ... and the dog (Jonah Wemhoff)?! As the play progresses, we get to see each side of the story and try to discover the truth.
